Els administradors de WordPress tenen la política de no escriure sobre política. Intenten mantenir-se al marge, una postura lloable i raonable. Però en aquesta ocasió escriuen un post per alertar sobre l’amenaça de la nova legislatura americana sobre Internet, la polèmica SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act). Citaré alguns fragments de l’entrada:
Using WordPress to blog, to publish, to communicate things online that once upon a time would have been relegated to an unread private journal (or simply remained unspoken, uncreated, unshared) makes you a part of one of the biggest changes in modern history: the democratization of publishing and the independent web. No només WordPress s’ha manifestat contra SOPA. En aquest article a InfoTechnology.com expliquen com Google, Yahoo, AOL, Facebook, Wikipedia, LinkedIn i altres s’oposen a aquesta legislació. De fet, Reddit i algunes més volen fer una apagada general el 18 de gener per mostrar el seu rebuig total a la SOPA. Entre els arguments que esgrimeixen, asseguren que es tracta d’un camp que ja té prou recolzament i protecció legal, que acabaria per tant protegit en excés fins al punt de restringir la lliure circulació de informació i continguts. És a dir, la restricció de la llibertat d’expressió i del dret a la informació, inherents a qualsevol persona com a Drets Humans fonamentals. En el vídeo penjat a Vimeo també s’explica molt bé com actuaria aquesta SOPA, sobretot justificant perquè seria una arma de les multinacionals contra qualsevol start-up:

El sedàs 
No vols SOPA?, doncs ja saps el que ens espera, SOPA pudenta per tothom. No hem d’oblidar que el veritable enemic som nosaltres.
